
Is your child a budding young actor with a love of musical theater? The Center of Creative Arts in University City is holding auditions on April 23 and 24 for its 2010 summer musical, Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA. The production, supported in part by Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, has available roles for children and teens ages 10 to 18. Students should prepare 32 bars of a song and provide sheet music. A headshot and resume is appreciated, but not required.
Audition times are Friday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to nooon at COCA, located at 524 Trinity Avenue in U niversity City. Callbacks will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Rehearsals for AIDA (being performed July 9 and 10) begin June 1. Once cast for the musical, students must pay a $275 participation fee.
Through its classes, workshops, performances and community events in dance, vocal music, theater and the visual arts, COCA engages students of all ages in cultivating skills and imagination and is committed to providing the highest quality of arts education in St. Louis.
