A St. Louis family favorite – the Children's Garden at the Missouri Botanical Garden – will close for the season on October 28-29, and children are invited to have an adventure exploring all the Garden has to offer before the gates close.
Enjoy the waterfall, steamboat, cave, rope bridges, tree house and other amenities in the garden and take part in special activities, including:
- Pot-A-Plant: Visitors of all ages can visit the potting station to select a winter-hardy plant to pot and take home. Each plant goes home with a special tip sheet to help you care for the plant this winter.
- Daffodil Dig: Fall is a great time to prepare for Spring. Plant a daffodil bulb in the Children's Garden and take one home to plant in your yard.
- Bats: Learn more about these fascinating winged creatures that come out after dark.
- Pollination: Even in fall pollinators are important to keep in mind. Learn about how pollination works and how you can be a friend to native pollinators.
- Finn-tastic Face Painting: Who doesn't love face painting? Volunteers will create fall-inspired cheek art!
Children's Garden activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Meet Finn, the Children's Garden friendly frog mascot on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Activities are included with admission to the Children's Garden of $5 per child ages 3 to 12 ($3 per child for Garden members' children). Ages 2 and under are free. Ages 13 and up are free.
